Game as a cultural arts, support for the revision of the Literary Law Act, the Game Industry Association
The Korea Game Industry Association announced on the 26th that it welcomed the amendment to the Culture and Arts Promotion Act, which passed the Cultural Sports and Tourism Committee. The amendment aims to assume the plenary session of the National Assembly on the 30th.
The amendment to the Culture and Arts Promotion Act, which was initiated by the Democratic Party lawmaker Cho Seung-rae, includes the game in legal culture and arts. If the law is prepared, the game is recognized as a legal culture and art in Korea and can receive relevant support.
Representative Cho Seung-rae said, The game is one of the very important areas of the development of the Korean content industry, and even though it is a comprehensive arts that combines various arts, it is not included in the definition of culture and arts under the law. I was not treated, he said. I expect that the passage of this amendment will be an opportunity to improve negative awareness of the game and expand the game industry.
In response, the Korea Game Industry Association announced on the 26th that it will actively support the bill through an official statement. The association said, The current game has become a comprehensive art, and it has been attracting attention as a new genre to lead the 21st century culture and art paradigm. Due to negative perceptions, it was more likely to be regulated than supporting and fostering, and it was not included in culture and arts, so it was not treated equally to other genres such as movies, music, and cartoons.
The bill beyond the standing committee is assumed to the plenary session through the judiciary committee. This amendment, which includes games in culture and arts, is not a bill that girls collide, so the possibility of passing the plenary session on the 30th is increasing. The bill that passed the plenary session is enforced by the law.
